Embodied Kirtan
with Burak Mungan
Join us for an evening of Embodied Kirtan, where we will connect through the power of our voices and shared presence. We will begin with a somatic meditation to ground ourselves and tune into our bodies, followed by singing kirtan, heart and medicine songs from different traditions.
Kirtan, rooted in Bhakti Yoga, means "reciting together" in Sanskrit. It is a practice of singing mantras together, using repetition, melody and collective voice to bring us into shared presence and unite us in song.
Come and feel for yourself how singing with others can be a powerful experience. You do not need any experience or any particular musical ability. Whether you are new to singing or have sung for years, you are welcome as you are. Just bring your voice and your open heart.
Burak Mungan
Burak is an embodiment facilitator, somatic coach and yoga & meditation teacher. He has been singing for 25 years and collecting songs through his wanderings across the globe.
His approach is rooted in embodiment: singing not only with the voice, but by feeling the whole body. Through rhythm, repetition and shared sound, we explore what it is like to feel more deeply into the body and what is alive in the moment, while meeting each other through singing together. It is less about performing and more about becoming a body of bodies: voices moving and resonating together in one space, listening, responding and creating something collectively.
