Ariella Karuna Lindström Futral
Ariella was born into yoga, with both parents being active
practitioners of Hatha yoga and Tibetan Buddhism (her father taught
yoga with Swami Satchidananda in India and the US). It wasn't until
later in life that she realized the power and significance of yogic
practice. After a decade of work in international human rights, she
was facing serious burnout.
It was yoga that changed everything: the healing power of yoga
felt like coming home. Over the past ten years Ariella has had the
opportunity to practice and study with some of the most notable
yoga teachers in the world and for the past seven years she has
been teaching in Stockholm, Sweden where she recently relocated
Her classes are dynamic and integrate Pranayama (breath work),
creative sequencing, and deep Savasana, enhanced by incredible
playlists. Ariella is known for her ability to make challenging
asanas accessible and fun and enjoys playing with inversions, heart
openers, and arm balances.
Ariella believes yoga is a practice that can change the world by
enabling people to peel away the ego and learn how to cultivate
true compassion for themselves and others. In many ways she sees
yoga as an extension of her activism and understands that there is
a direct link between wellbeing and our ability to make change in
Her goal is to support her students in tapping into their greatest
self by helping them navigate the joy and pain that makes us human
on and off the mat. She is skilled at supporting students in
awakening their Prana (life force) and letting go of the 'stories'
that can hold us back. She believes strongly in bringing yogic
philosophy into her classes while maintaining a playful yet
challenging class structure.
As a yoga activist she has a strong commitment to her Seva
(selfless giving) practice and holds Seva retreats internationally
that allow students to support change in the world through the
practice of yoga and giving back. Ariella is also certified in
myofascial release massage and often brings myofascial release into
her yin/resorative classes. She is currently studying 'Yoga for
Self Regulation and Trauma' with Off the Mat and into the
