Thriving as a Modern Vinyasa Teacher - a 30hr Training, with Adam Husler
A 200hr trainings is the perfect introduction to the world of teaching yoga, but all of us soon realise that there is far more to teaching yoga than calling out the names of poses with our suitably relaxing ‘yoga voices’.
Over time, as our practice and our teaching mature, our
questions should, hopefully, begin to outnumber our answers and we
start to look to refine our knowledge and build our skill.
In this 30hr training, we'll discover how to integrate modern
understanding of body/mind in to our yoga teaching and the
strategies we can use to maximise satisfaction and learning for our
students and, for ourselves, as teachers.
Topics we will over include:
We will begin to let go of yoga 'law' and absolute alignment,
and instead begin to incorporate
contemporary understanding of the human body in to our teaching
and our practice. We'll look at ways to understand and experience
asana, while also exploring the balance between; flexibility,
strength and mobility.
As well as exploring alignment and anatomical principles, for
common pose families like forward fold, twists or backbends, we'll
deconstruct and demystify more physical demanding poses. We will
cultivate skill, understanding and effective methods of practicing,
and teaching, these advanced poses, inc: arm balances and
As a teacher, your contact with the students mainly consists of
the sequence you teach for the
time you are with them, and so, the building of each sequence is
to be carefully considered. We will be exploring various long and
short sequencing strategies, along with a sequencing model that can
apply to all of them. Out focus is on creating effective,
intelligent sequencing that will allow students to learn, build
skill and still their mind in to the present moment.
You may have thousands of hours of anatomical and philosophical
training, but that in itself does not mean that you would be an
effective yoga teacher. As teachers we need to learn how to; hold
space for students from many backgrounds, communicate ideas
effectively, ensure the safety of students, engage with students,
teach all levels of practitioner and facilitate a practice of
selfenquiry in a 60-90 min class. Time will be focused on
translating your knowledge in to the art of teaching.
Depending on your background, being self employed in a new
industry can be a scary place to
be. Adam will use his experience in the corporate world, in the
charity sector and as someones
who's taught trainings/classes/conferences around the world for
years, to give you tools and
advice for your development in a career as a yoga teacher.
Depending on the group, this will
touch on; marketing, finances, getting classes, creating retreats
Each day will begin with a meditation and an and a 90-120min
practice. The rest of the day will be a mix of: group discussion,
talks, small groups exercise and asana.
Completing of the training gives you 30hr of CPD credit with
Yoga Alliance International .
